American Red Cross Certification

David's Swim School and American Red Cross have partnered to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide professional-level care breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical service (EMS) personnel take over.

Prerequisite

Before joining this program the following must be met: Must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates required to place their hands under their armpits. Complete time event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all class sessions.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
  • Pass both Sections- CPR/Aed for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid and Section- Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with minimun grades of 80 percent.

Florida Foundation

Our Drowning Prevention Florida Foundation provides services to families with low income and special needs, giving swimming lessons and aquatic therapy.

Across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach, we facilitate learning and rehabilitation in a safe, comfortable, and family environment. We establish and give valuable tips for the safety of families, many who wish to learn about drowning prevention and swimming therapy.

Our students develop and improve at a rapid pace, and you can observe their advances during the course.

All proceeds inside our facility go towards the Drowning Prevention Florida foundation.
